The Safety Glass (Quality Control) Order, 2020 was first notified via S.O. 1045(E) dated 12th March 2020 by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (DPIIT) under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. It was later amended multiple times to extend enforcement timelines and provide exemptions.

Enforcement Timeline

  • Original enforcement: 16th September 2020.
  • Extended first to 1st April 2021, then 1st April 2022, and finally enforced from 1st April 2023.
